May 2025 Trip Report

Hello! We’re thrilled to share that this May, REACH Foundation embarked on our inaugural medical mission!

Our team traveled to Ghana with a team of healthcare professionals, nursing and medical students, and passionate volunteers to serve two orphanages: Save Our Lives and Jesus Is King.

Each day, we held medical clinics where we provided basic wellness checks to the children and their adult caregivers. Our medical teams from both Missouri and Ghana collaborate to provide compassionate and effective care. Multiple medical concerns were discovered during these assessments, and we are working to ensure appropriate follow-up and continuity of care through our local partners.

We also hosted Vacation Bible School at both orphanages. We used the story of Esther as our anchor, teaching about God’s providence, courage in the face of fear, and the living hope of Jesus Christ. We experienced indescribable joy as we engaged in singing, dancing, storytelling, and crafts with the children!

At Save Our Lives, we provided multiple facilities updates including painting, construction of new beds, and new mattresses for the kiddos. One especially moving moment was constructing a ramp for a young boy with disabilities, allowing him safe and easy access to his living space and going to and from school.

We had the privilege of partnering with Ankaase Methodist Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to donate essential medical supplies and provide funding to support nearly 300 life-changing surgeries. These procedures—ranging from minor to more complex operations—had a direct impact on hundreds of individuals and their families.

While there, our team was also able to shadow their Ghanaian medical teams, learning firsthand about the country’s healthcare delivery systems and the challenges they face. These moments of mutual learning laid a foundation for future collaboration—and deepened our understanding of how we can continue to assist in sustainable, respectful ways.  

We came to give, but we received much in return. Through every clinic, every conversation, and every joyful song, God’s presence was unmistakably with us—reminding us that his eternal hope is present in any circumstance.
